house updates

We decided to take down the wallpaper and
border in the little boys room.

Tile is down and will be grouted this week.

Painted around the kitchen windows.

Had railings and spindles put on the stairway,
they only had railings before.

The little area under the steps had a mattress on it.
Shawn used to take naps under there when he was little.
I plan to put another mattress on there as well.

Painted the hallway upstairs and am ordering new carpet today.
We're getting closer and closer.

No free time

Reasons I couldn't wait to be done with homeschooling for the summer.

  • I wanted to be able to get laundry washed, folded and actually put away all in the same day.
  • I was going to be able to bake more and think about supper before it was actually supper time.
  • I was going to read more, maybe even a book.
  • Go for a walk in the evenings.
  • I was going to spend time with the kids doing something other than school.
  • We were going to have days where there would be absolutely no electronics and we would play games together or read.
  • When I was a kid I can remember sitting on the front porch with my mom. I was hoping to start this tradition with my kids this summer.
  • We were going to spend time swimming in our new pool.
  • Blog more.

What is actually happening.

  • I did put some books on hold at the library, but haven't picked them up yet.
  • One of the kids is done with ball and we are heading into tournaments with another one.
  • We are having weekly meetings with the mental health board about Tator and they are making me feel like I'm finally being heard.
  • I joined weight watchers a couple weeks ago so I had an excuse to get out of the house alone.
  • The kids and I have started playing wiffle ball together.
  • We have time periods that they are not allowed electronics. I have had so many appointments that I have allowed the big kids to let the little ones watch t.v. while they are babysitting.
  • We are buying a plastic kids pool in case we don't get the big pool up and running.
  • I have blogged some, but mostly just put pictures on for my family who enjoys them.
  • I got the chance to sit on the front porch at the new house and hold baby Coco one time, while I waited for a delivery man to deliver new beds.

Me and my shadow

Sissy discovered her shadow.

Where did it go?

There it is.

How's things going?

Things have been pretty up and down around here. Tator is doing well with the homeschooling part. She joyfully gets up and works in her workbooks. I had bought her a book with learning drills in it and found an extra third grade spelling book. ( For some reason when Bunny was in 3rd grade they sent me an extra spelling book. I had forgotten about it and found it while moving boxes into the new house. Total God thing!) She also spends a lot of time reading and writing stories. This is working really well for her.

Since I have brought her home from school she has a calmness about her that has allowed her to relax in her bed everyday at quiet time. She usually falls asleep giving her the extra rest she needs since we are at ball games about every night.

The behaviors that I believed were due to her anxiety with school ending are all gone.

With all that being said it has not all been peaches and cream. Her dark side had erupted again. I talked about one incident here and there have been a couple other incidents that I just can't bring myself to blog about yet.

Tator has put herself in danger a couple times now. These times make me realize how very sick she is. She has a new therapist that I think is going to finally help me get her the help she really needs. We will be meeting with her therapist and the mental health board next week to see what we can do to get her the help she so desperately needs.

Silly Sunday

This is the first Sunday in a long time that we
didn't have anything to do.
It was so relaxing.
We spent the evening outside playing.

The boys threw the baseball,
while Bunny and I hooped.

The boys also threw the frisbee.
Duckie being very dramatic trying to
catch it.

I asked the three oldest to pose so I could
take a picture of them together.
Bunny wouldn't get close to Buc,
she said he smelled.

So they tried to throw her in the ditch behind them.

Finally I just made her get out of the picture.
